BY-LAWS FOR CHARTER AFFILIATION

 

ARTICLE

I.      NAME OF ORGANIZATION 

This organization shall be known as Saint Catherine Parish Council of Catholic Women.

 

II. PURPOSE 

The purpose of this organization is to promote spirituality and evangelization through leadership and service to the parish community.

 

III. MEMBERSHIP 

An invitation to membership is open to all women of the parish.  Members are entitled to voting rights.

 

IV. OFFICERS 

St. Catherine Parish Council of Catholic Women is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of officers, commission chairs and the Pastor.  The Board of Directors shall remain in place for two years or until their successors are qualified and elected.

 

DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS: 

1. The MODERATOR, ex officio, is the supreme authority of the Council. 

2. PRESIDENT—shall preside at all meetings.  Shall be an    ex-official member of all commissions and committees, shall perform all duties as her office demands and as directed by the Board of Directors.  Will attend all Eastern Deanery Board meetings, the Fall and Spring Deanery Day of the Eastern Deanery and the Annual Diocesan Convention.   

3. VICE PRESIDENTS—shall, in the event of the absence of the President, perform the duties of her office and other duties as the President and Board of Directors may designate.

 4.    SECRETARY—shall proceed over all meetings.  Shall keep a copy of the By-Laws and Standing Rules of the Affiliation Deanery and the Venice Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and shall conduct all correspondence requested by the President. 

5.    TREASURER—shall collect all dues of the organization and keep an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements.  Shall make a financial report at each monthly meeting, pay all expenses of the organization that has been initiated by the President.  All claims and checks shall be kept in their original form and filed for at least three (3) years.  All checks shall be signed by the Treasurer and Secretary. 

IF AT ANY TIME AN OFFICER IS NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING, SHE MUSH NOTIFY THE PRESIDENT.

 

V.   MEETINGS 

Regular meetings of the Day Council will be on the last Monday of each month at 1:00 unless otherwise scheduled.   

Regular meetings of the Evening Council will be on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise scheduled.

 

VI.   BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

A Joint Board meeting will be held on the second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. of even months unless otherwise scheduled.   

A quorum will consist of one member over 50%.

 

VII.  THE FOLLOWING COMMISSIONS WILL BE SUBJECT TO            APPOINTMENT BY THE PRESIDENT AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: 

Church Commission

Community Commission

Family Commission

International Commission

Legislative Commission

Organization Commission

 

VIII.    STANDING COMMITTEES 

The President and Board of Directors shall appoint all Standing Committees and approve their activities.

 

IX .  THE PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY WILL BE ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER.

 

X. THE METHOD OF AMENDING THE BY-LAWS SHALL BE A MAJORITY RULE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

 

XI.   VOTING 

All  regular members shall be entitled to vote upon payment of dues.
