Would you like to know more about the Catholic
Church? Have you thought you might like to become Catholic, or do you
know someone who is thinking about it? The RCIA process of the Catholic
Church provides a place where you can:
… Come and see
… Ask questions and learn
… With no obligation
These sessions are for adults who want
to become Catholic and also for Catholic adults who would like to prepare for
the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Our classes began in
mid-September and end in May. Our parish extends an invitation to anyone wishing
to inquire about the Catholic faith.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults provides a
process for people who are searching; people who seek the living God and enter
the way of faith. The reasons people are attracted to the Church are as varied
as the individual persons. Some have never been baptized and have little or no
acquaintance with a church. Others are Christians baptized in other faiths. Some
are Catholics who have never been instructed to share their religion. Whatever
the reason, everyone is invited to take this opportunity to find out more about
the Catholic beliefs and practices. It is a time of unhurried reflection and
discovery. It promises to be a time of great joy as people begin on a Journey of
Faith that will last into eternity. If you know someone who may benefit from
these classes, speak with them, invite them, have them call the Parish
Office, (863) 385-0049.
Classes are on Thursday evenings at 7:00 P.M.
Call Bill or Sandy Manint at 382-2222 for additional information.
CATECHUMENS and CANDIDATES
A Catechumen is an un-baptized person.
A Candidate has been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit in another denomination. Since you can only be baptized once, a
Candidate makes a Profession of Faith in front of the congregation, by saying “I
(and they state their name) believe and profess all that the Holy Catholic
Church believes, teaches, and proclaims to be revealed by God.” The Candidate is
then Catholic, and is now eligible to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and
Holy Eucharist.
Catechumens, Candidates, and Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation, enter
the RCIA Process in September. Then enter the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Bill
Manint, Sr. is the Director of our RCIA Program. |
