The Rite of Christian Initiation for Children

RCIC is for all children 7 years of age or older who have not been baptized or introduced to the sacraments. Sometimes circumstances of life divert us from our faith or get in the way of us sharing our love of Christ and the richness of our faith with our children. Maybe now is the time.

We welcome you to contact Rebecca Propst at 655-6153.

Religious Education or Faith Formation

What’s in a name?  Are Sunday morning classes for Kindergarten through Grade 5 called CCD, Religious Education or Faith Formation?

CCD was a term used many years ago to refer to classes for children to learn about the Catholic faith.  Then along came Religious Education, a new term referring to these classes for children.

FAITH FORMATION has some of the same elements of CCD and Religious Education in that it is meant to teach children about our Catholic faith; but it also takes on the added element of forming our children in the faith – by assisting children to develop a spiritual life, to include prayer and Jesus in their every day life away from church and Sunday school.  It is important for children to learn the traditions of our faith, but it is equally (if not more) important that children develop a love, trust, and belief in God.
